The North East Accountancy Awards is an Echo owned event run in association with all six governing bodies in the field of accounting and finance. The Awards were founded in 2007 to recognise and celebrate excellence within the fields of finance, accounting and tax from all industry sectors operating in the North East. Echo has been running the event since 2014 and has continued to grow the awards year on year.
Taking place at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead the awards attracts around 400 finance professionals from across the North East. The evening is a celebration of the hard work and talent the region has to offer, past winners have included: KPMG, Deloitte, PwC, Tait Walker, EY, Blu Sky Tax, National Audit Office among many others.
How did we deliver?
With an annual event, marketing and PR is a key priority to its success and attracting a high calibre of finance professionals to nominate and attend. This is achieved through online mailers to targeted organisations, flyers distributed across the region and advertising in local business publications. We send a number of press releases throughout the year which centre on the successes of past winners and key sponsors. The event has been hosted by Carol Malia and Colin Briggs from BCC Look North, Alfie Joey from BBC Radio Newcastle and Olympic Athlete and BBC Commentator, Steve Cram. After dinner speakers have included Martin Vander Weyer (Author and Columnist) and Monty Halls (Adventurer and TV Presenter). Last years presenter was award wining author and journalist Nadine Dereza.
There are a large number of sponsorship opportunities available at the event including title sponsor which has been held by Nigel Wright Recruitment since the event was founded.
Echo works with a number of well-respected figures from across the region to judge the nominations. Prior to the main evening we hold a judging day which is a chance for the judges to meet and interview the nominees before making a decision on the winner.
Echo is responsible for full logistical management of the events including but not limited to all design and production, nomination and booking registration, payment processing and credit control and onsite management.
The months of planning and hard work culminates in a fantastic evening of celebration and honour for the winning individuals and companies but mostly for the North East finance profession as a whole.
